My Personal Statement of Faith
My statement of faith begins with the first book in the Bible with the first four words of Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God…”
There's lots in the Bible I do not understand but what I do understand and what I know restores me and floods my heart with joy. And I definitely believe Proverbs 30:5. “Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.”
When I was a little girl of about six or seven, I sat on my pastor's knee at the back of the church and he led me to the Lord. I asked Jesus Christ to come inside my heart and the exact moment I did, Holy Spirit moved in inside and has never left nor forsaken me.
I have been on the mountaintop and in the deepest, darkest, loneliest valleys. And Jesus has walked every step with me.
I do not understand how water can be in three different forms: a solid, a liquid, and a gas. Just as I know that to be a fact, I know that God is in three different forms: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each totally 100% God.
Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of his mother, Mary, a virgin. He was born, He lived a perfect sinless life, He gave His life on a cross, a cruel cross He did not deserve, for my sins and for the world. I am included in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
He said “It is finished” on the cross. My debt of sin was paid in full. It was ready and waiting for me to accept even before I needed it. He was buried in a borrowed tomb. Three days later, death could not hold Him and He walked out of that tomb. He ascended to Heaven 40 days later and promised He would come back for His own.
Jesus, fully God, fully Man, is the only way to Heaven. Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not by works, by deeds, by creeds, by sacraments, by traditions, or anything else that we could call our own.
My Statement of Faith continues with the last two verses of the New Testament: “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” Revelation 22: 20-21.
His coming back for His own, including me, is nearer today than it was decades ago when I was a little girl and asked Jesus to come into my heart. I unashamedly and freely wrote My Statement of Faith for the world to see.
